Katie and her husband have raised their family in Caernarvon Township, Pennsylvania. Katie grew up on an Iowa corn and soybean farm with some beef cattle. Through high school and college she worked at neighbors’ swine farms in the farrowing barns. She vividly remembers crunching pennies through the 1980’s Farm Crisis and her grandmother, a farm wife, showing her ledgers from farm expenses during the Great Depression. Katie’s husband, Eric, who also grew up on an Iowa corn and soybean farm, is a master innovations inventor for corn heads and combines with CNH, New Holland, PA.
Katie and her husband have homeschooled their children for over 20 years; Katie is a staunch parental rights activist and 4th Amendment defender. Katie served as President of the CHALC Board 2019-2020 (www.chalc.org). She and her husband organized an in-person, across Lancaster County graduation inviting seniors to walk across their graduation stage rite of passage - despite COVID shutterings. Katie currently leads local homeschool groups. Prior to homeschooling, Katie served as a public school teacher instructing both jr. high and high school English and German.
Katie facilitates CitizensVote, an organization which hosts 3rd Saturday Townhall 1st Amendment breakfasts at Yoder’s in New Holland, Pennsylvania. Katie has served on the CitizensVote planning team since its inception when the group organized a Get-out-the Amish Vote Invitation to drive Amish Voters to the polls in November 2020.
One of Katie’s favorite verses is Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”
